Eligibility for 2018 Volunteer Programme
Anyone regardless of gender, race, religion, and ethnicity is eligible for the programme. The only criterion is that you must be at least 18 years of age. If you wish to volunteer for 2017 Confederations cup you must be 18 years on May 10, 2017 and for 2018 World Cup you must be 18 years old on May 10, 2018. Except for the age restriction, there is no other bare minimum eligibility criterion for applying to the programme. Candidate must possess proficiency in English language and secondary foreign language will be an added advantage.Ability to work hard and resilience to stress. Prior experience in volunteering a big sporting event is an added advantage.
Is knowledge of English or Russian language must?
Of course not. However, as this is an international event people from a different background will need to work together as a team and for that, a common language such as English is required. There are different fields of operation for volunteers if you have knowledge of any foreign language like German, Portuguese or Spanish then you will be assigned a specific role based on your capabilities.
Registration – the registration for the volunteer programme started on June 1, 2016 and ended on December 30, 2016. During this process, online applications were accepted through official FIFA website.
Selection – the selection process started in the 3rd quarter of 2016. In this process, candidates were selected based on analytical skills and personal qualities test, English language test followed by an interview.
Training – those who were shortlisted in the selection phase will be imparted training during the 1st quarter of 2017. Training is an important part of volunteer programme because candidates from vast backgrounds are selected and they must become familiar with the volunteering process.

International candidates willing to volunteer will be selected through online support. The candidates will be will be contacted directly by FIFA.

What work will volunteers look after?
Volunteers are needed in almost every sphere of the tournament. The main role volunteers have to play will be in Ceremony, Hospitality, Ticketing, Catering, Transport, Media, Language, Doping control, Accreditation, Medical service and fan service.
Will Volunteers get Ticket or Salary?
No, this is a voluntary work and there is no financial gain in voluntary work. It’s entirely your own discretion to work or not. Volunteers will not be paid any remuneration, salary or free tickets to Russia.
Will Volunteers get accommodation and meals?
Volunteers will get unique volunteer uniform, meals and free public transportation during the shift. Volunteers have to pay for the transfer to the city and accommodation.
